 Movie/TV References

What is a "movie/TV reference"?
It is a scene, line, sight gag, etc. that is clearly referring to Hellraiser. Randy mentioning HR1 by name in Scream, Pinhead appearing for a few frames in "The Simpsons," and "Saturday Night Live" using HR2's music are all things that would not exist if Hellraiser had never been filmed.

 Internet References

What is an "internet reference"?
That's hard to describe. It is not a webpage dedicated to horror movies. It's not a movie review online of the films. It is a mention of Hellraiser, Pinhead, etc in places that you would not except. An online comic strip is a good example. An article at theonion.com would be an internet reference. A review of a video game that mentions Hellraiser might be a reference. For the most part, an internet reference is the online equivalent of a print reference.

 Inspired by Hellraiser

What's the difference between a reference and an inspiration?
A reference is undeniably borrowing from Hellraiser; if Hellraiser did not exist, the reference wouldn't be there. An inspiration is maybe, possibly borrowing from Hellraiser; if Hellraiser did not exist, the inspiration might still be there. An inspiration bears a similarity to things found in the Hellraiser Universe, but can't be conclusively connected to it.
