Fisher, Dr. Bernard
An older man with short, black hair and large glasses who was working on the AIDS problem at the Institute for Disease Centre and was waiting for a letter to find out if he had the disease himself. He was friends with Morris for a long time and was secretly attracted to him. His work was "marginalized to the point of non-esitance" by Casey's monopoly of the supercomputer. Bernard believed Casey was "far from the best person" to lead their research as she was "too clinical, too dispassionate". Pinhead refused to listen and arranged for Bernard to have a vision of Morris and Casey having sex. Bernard pleaded with Casey to see the human side of the disease by visiting a hospice and getting to know people but she failed to listen. He quit his job and Pinhead revealed himself and made a deal with Bernard. Pinhead gave Bernard AIDS and Bernard visited Casey where he appeared to die of the disease before her eyes. This was an illusion to show her the human perspective. His letter arrived and informed he already had AIDS when he made the deal with Pinhead and so had lost nothing.
George, Lester
One of the "six unsuspecting humans, each at the fulcrum of the struggle between order and flesh".
Gioeli, Dr. Casey
A young, brunette doctor who was obsessed with finding the cure for AIDS. She was beautiful and brilliant but also "too clinical, too dispassionate" and wasn't interested in the human side of AIDS which she only saw as "a complex medical puzzle". She had sadomasochistic sex with Pinhead, disguised as Morris, in order to get a monopoly on the Institute for Disease Centre's supercomputer. She was surprised to discover Bernard had AIDS and she witnessed an illusion of him dying infront of her from various diseases.
Interviewee 1
A middle-aged black man. He believed the search for a cure to AIDS was political and that no one cared because only "junkies and faggots" were getting it.
Interviewee 2
A scrawny, bald, elderly man. He believed "fornication is for having children" and that AIDS was a punishment from God for homosexual sinners.
Interviewee 3
A middle-aged, obsese woman. She believed people should "get inside someone else's skin" and see that they are also people who don't deserve to suffer.
Leviathan
The ruler of Hell.
Pinhead
Also: Dr. Morris Dilliard, Prince of Hell, Favoured Son
"The Prince of Hell; the Favoured Son; a Cenobite of Leviathan's Hell". He wore the skin of Dr. Morris Dilliard, head of the Institue for Disease Cotrol. He prioritised Casey's research, so that others such as Barnard were marginalised. As Dilliard he had sadomasochistic sex with Casey. He revealed himself to Bernard and made a deal. He gave Bernard AIDS so that Bernard could show Casey the human side of the disease.
Prince of Hell
See Pinhead.
Shabel, Leo
One of the "six unsuspecting humans, each at the fulcrum of the struggle between order and flesh".
Tentatores Maligenni
The five "Cenobite stormtroopers sent by Leviathan to see that order wins the war with the chaotic tendancies of flesh".

 Locations

Apartment, Dr. Fisher's
Bernard had visions of Casey and Morris having sex here. It was here that he received the letter informing him he had AIDS.

Apartment, Dr. Gioelli's
Where Casey engaged in sadomasochistic sex with Pinhead, disguised as Morris, in her bedroom.

Institute for Disease Control
A centre for research into diseases. Dr. Morris Dillard was its Director. The Laboratories where Casey and Bernard worked were located here.

Laboratories
Research laboratories at the Institute for Disease Centre. The Institutes single supercomputer was located here.

Office, Dr. Dilliard's
Morris' office at the Institute for Disease Centre. It was a large room with a staircase leading into it and with Morris' desk in one corner, covered in various puzzles. Bernard was arguing with Morris here when Casey arrived for a date with him. Bernard made his deal with Pinhead here.

Office, Dr. Gioelli's
Casey's office at the Institute for Disease Centre. It was a large room with a single desk and chair at the far end. It was here that Bernard showed Casey the effects of AIDS on himself.

 Things

AIDS
definition
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. A sexually transmitted illness. Casey considered the search for an AIDS cure a "challenging intellectual puzzle". She hoped to find a cure with her research.

Deal with Pinhead
Pinhead gave Bernard AIDS and in return Bernard was given a chance to "aquaint Gioeli with the disease on a personal level".

Herpes Zoster
The second disease Bernard displayed to Casey. Symptons included sensitive red patches on the skin.

Kaposi's Sarcoma
Possibly the fourth disease Bernard displays though by that stage it was difficult to tell as his immune system was "all but shut down".

Letter
Bernard was expecting to receive this for some time. It arrived after he made his deal with Pinhead. The letter informed him that he already had AIDS.

Lymphadenopathy
The first disease Bernard displayed to Casey. Symptons included swollen lymph glands in the throat, groin and under the arms.

Oral Candidiasis
The third disease Bernard displayed to Casey. Commonly known as Thrush. Symptons included fungal patches on the mouth and tongue.

Pneumonia
Bernard said if he was lucky it would be pneumonia that eventually killed him.

Razorblade
Casey and Morris/Pinhead used this whilst having sadomasochistic sex. She cut and licked his wounds before he did the same to her back.

Supercomputer
Located at the Institute for Disease Centre, time using it was very precious. Bernard believed Casey was not brilliant enough to justify her increasing monopoly of the time spent using it leaving other peoples work "marginalized to the point of non-existance".

Time of Configuration
"The vernal equinox of malevolence" where order must win out over "the chaotic tendancies of flesh". Five Cenobites must make "six unsuspecting humans, each at the fulcrum of the struggle between order and flesh" choose the path of order. Casey was Pinhead's subject.

 Timeline
